Ritual Lair

13 Candles

Self-Released 2011

Brutally primitive metal from these Polish fiends, this 3-song demo is likely to beat you into submission with its bestial simplicity.  Straight on riffs caught somewhere between VON and Hellhammer batter you on the initial offering, Drowning In The Darkness.  Wrath of Ghouls bursts at the seams with speed and haunting aggression.  A ropey bass slinks around in the stew of uncultured destruction.  The riffs swing wildly around like a barbarian with his spiked club.  There is a certain charm about this blast of unpolished Satanic metal.  Under The Flag of Hell utilizes a speedy, sawing riff that causes havoc with its uncivilized attitude.  It drops into an almost atmospheric groove before exploding once again into hellish savagery.  The speed increases to merciless extremes and I am caught contemplating shades of Blasphemy and Conqueror.  This no-frills metal is uncompromising in its need to bludgeon you with thick, muddy riffs.  Ritual Lair is feral, underground black metal, nothing more and nothing less.  This is unholy primitivism on a scale even with early Beherit and VON.  The white light is feeble as it stands before this testament of Satanic destruction.
