Slaughter

Black Speed Terror
Demonhood
Records 2013
With
their debut 7" Belgian black thrash insurgents, Slaughter Messiah, have
declared war on all followers of the white light. This three song
metal assault lays waste to posers, pretenders and Xtians alike.
Up first is the hellish buzzsaw mayhem of the title-track.
Slayer-esque riffs are sewn together with early Teutonic steel
for a black thrash holocaust. Relentless drum blasts and scathing
vocals accompany riffs that turn on a dime while blasting away your
spirituality. Death metal passages surge to the forefront as the
song progresses and I can detect hints of Unanimated within their
folds. A killer solo whips your eardrums with lashes of fire
before returning to more demonic thrash melee. My favorite track
is Demon. It's catchy main riffs rhythmically wash over you like
a wave of magma. Knives of falsetto vocals pierce the darkness
while violent combinations of drums and guitar flay your skin.
The final track, Cosmic Funeral (The Great Old Ones) sets the
mood with eerie synth only to get completely obliterated by intense
blasts of drumming speed and aggressively churning riffs. The
song breaks into a short period of amorphous atmosphere, long enough
for a moody spoken-word segment. The deathly attack continues
with drums that continuously stab at you with their sharp snares.
The riffs swirl at hyper speeds that blur the line between black
and thrash metal. Lyrics that reference the Cthulu mythos a
belted out like a hateful ritualistic chant. Slaughter Messiah
have definitely grabbed my attention and are ferociously ripping
through my speakers with their black thrash destruction. This 7"
will slice and shred you with its aggression. You have been
forewarned.
