TerrorDrome

Day of Sacrilege

Grindethic Records 2012

Whoah!  Can you say mind-blowing?  That's the word I would use to describe the new album from Greek ultra-technical, ultra-brutal surgeons, Terrordrome.  Now this is not my normal taste in death metal, but some bands just know how to do it right and can't be ignored.  Sharp riffs and tempo changes executed with precision can be discerned immediately on album opener, Alas In The Wound.  Brutal riffs, guttural vocals and crushing heaviness are sliced through like a surgeon by the guitarist Sakis as he uses a dizzying array of swirling fingerwork. For The Mayhem To Begin opens with chunky riffs that are shoved out of the way hyper-blasts and shredding guitars.  Technical accents like unbelievable drum fills and insane fretwork.  And on top of all that a blizzard of breaks and melodic guitar change-ups will leave you gasping for air.  Bounded begins with metallized flamenco and some spastic drumming that leaves me swaying before they take a left turn into regions of violence.  Meaty riffs, and deep death vocals hack away at you leaving nothing but shattered bones.  Conceit Is The Disease is a more straight-forward track, I mean at least for Terrordrome.  A myriad of destructive death metal riffs and unrelenting speed in the rhythm department lay waste to everything in their wake.  The songs continue to gain momentum as is the case with Impale The Unfit Servant.  Slightly more brooding as the focus is not on all-out speed with some slower tempos mixed in to the melee.  However it is still full force savagery with a strike force's precision as the band stops on a dime and changes direction effortlessly.  The final track, Antediluvian Malediction features a guest riff by Audiopain's Sverre.  The riff is instantly recognizable, yet still fits nicely within the framework of the song as it adds some thrashy connotations to the song before one of the deadliest riffs on the album is unleashed at the 2:56 mark.  Like I said before, I am not huge on this style of music, but that's the genius of Terrordrome, they bring me in with varied styles and instrumentation while remaining true to a foundation of murderous death metal.   Being as I am not a musician, I know I have not done justice to the instrumental wizardry that is involved in this album, so I will simply state, this album will leave you breathless, so get it NOW!!!
