Sanguis Imperem
In Glory We March To Our Doom

Hells Headbangers Records 2011

After a somewhat meandering and stumbling acoustic intro which has an undercurrent of demonic sample loops and ambient noise American death metal crushers Sanguis Imperem detonate an arsenal of deadly guitar oriented explosions.  They start with The Scourge of Men which sounds like the bastard child of Teitenblood and Covenant era Morbid Angel.  It is a relentless barrage of rolling, rhythmic riffs and hammering drums.  Possessed By Violence immediately blasts you in the face with hyper-intense drumming but shifts into more muscular, mid-tempo passages that bring a Grave feeling more to the front.  A slower more ominous pace dominates Strapped To The Crank Wheel.  Morbid, forlorn riffs impose a doomy mood upon the track and it methodically moves towards the grinding down of the listener.  There is a imperial feel to Sanguis Imperem that brings to mind the works of UK death metallers, Spearhead.  This is illustrated perfectly by the martial beat and totalitarian attitude of Heralds of Triumph.  The track is unrelenting in its shredding momentum that obliterates all obstacles that stand before it.  In the end, In Glory We March To Our Doom is a heavy slab of serious and willful death metal caught somewhere in the nether regions between Grave, Teitenblood and perhaps Spearhead.  Nothing to original but still quality death metal that should be taken seriously!
