Vomitor
The
Escalation
Hells Headbangers 2012
Raw
and abrasive, the new album from Australia's Vomitor is a feral beast
of death thrashing mayhem. Pits Of Nightmare/Pitch Black crackles
with a slow building energy during its introductory segment and then
erupts into rabid destruction. The riffs saw with lightning
intensity and the drums smash away at terminal velocity. The
vocals are demonic grunts that clamor for undead flesh. The pace
slows to a crawl and unholy squeals that serve as guitar solos are spat
forth from the speakers. Like a crack of thunder the guitars boom
into the next track, Prayer of Nightmare. A hammering drum beat
and those characteristic gurgled vocals form a two-pronged attack of
devastating black thrash. An old school thrash riff rises from
the carnage to give some order to the relentless onslaught.
Warbling riffs give way to a blinding eruption of volcanic
deathly thrash on Hellburst To Fight. The barbaric tempos and
frenzied riffing remind me at times of the early Brazilian scene.
The pace once again slows and earsplitting solos strike hard and
pierce the soul. The track plods onwards while a flurry of leads
rise and fall from within the maelstrom. The title-track hits
with a vengeance. An imperial aura drapes all the bestial riffs
and savage vocals that sharply flay your flesh. The riffs crunch
and shred like early 80s Teutonic thrash while blistering solos strike
with the deadly accuracy of Hammer Of The Gods era Angelcorpse.
Metal Or Die continues with the unbridled speed and violence of
previous tracks. An awesome set of breaks at the 1:42 mark grabs
you by the balls and drags you into an 80s thrash mindset that leaves
no room for anything but gleeful nostalgia. The Escalation is an
excursion into realms of blasphemous aggression. There is no
mercy and no escape from the blackened death thrash that confronts and
overruns your senses. If you thrive on the obscure, vicious
thrash like Sodom's Obsessed By Cruelty then you will consume The
Escalation with lustful vigor.
