Terror Drome
Pre-Production 2006
Self-financed 2006
Relentless is the perfect word for this vicious onslaught. Hailing from a
land that is more famous for its black metal leanings (Rotting Christ,
Necromantia, Varathron) and pretentious metal like
Septic Flesh, Terror Drome unleash mercilessly brutal death metal with a hint of
grind. Though you can hear the hints of their original Floridian Death
metal influences such as Monstrosity, they now bear a stronger allegiance to
some of the more all out assaults of modern entities such as Nile, Origin, and
Hate Eternal as it says in their bio. To understand why I say this check
out track three Infected Fornication for a dizzying display of guitar madness as
the squeals bend to chugging rhythms and then bounce into a miniscule melody
before insane squealing once again or on the whirling depravity of opening track
Disputing the Throne. Terror Drome has progressed admirably from their
first two demos to this point. Though Intravenous Multiplication and
Sane-in-Sane had rumblings of individuality and song dynamics, neither of them
possessed the same sort of impact when it came to songwriting as does the
Pre-Production release. Peter Ouzounis' vocals are so deep and guttural I am convinced he
has some sort of throat deformity. Antonis batters away on his drum kit
like a coke addicted speed freak. It is sometimes hard to believe that
anyone would have the stamina for something this mind numbingly fast. The
production is pretty good despite this being a preproduction release. I
feel the guitars could be brought up in the mix a little and maybe the vocals
brought down a tiny bit. But these are minor discrepancies and overall
this is a solid slab of music. This four song taster gives an excellent
and accurate feel for what lies ahead upon the release of their first full
length album later this year.
