13 years and only four albums. I guess that is why the quality of each of
them is so fricking stellar. With World Collapse, Unpure has taken the
updated sound they established on Trinity in Black and stripped it back down a
bit by removing virtually all the melody. So what we are left with here is
thundering tank of Celtic Frost inspired metal that also incorporates some
thrashing riffs as well. They have managed to write some truly inspired
rumbling riffs that make me want to go fucking insane and throw anything near
me. Take the riff that stomps in at the 25 second mark of Stolen Sun or
the riff that opens Mark of the Beast. I can't use any words to describe
these riffs that involve some sort of crushing weight. They are just so
unbelievably Bone hard!!! The thrash inspired riffs are most evident in
the songs Quest for Hell and the old-school circle-pit inspiring Sabbath.
The vocals are powerful and border somehow between black and death metal.
I really like bands that utilize the bass guitar as an actual instrument that
can be heard within the music and Unpure is one of these few artists who grasp
its power. The guitar production is superb and truly gives the riff
boulder weighted heaviness. The is also a nice dose of fuzz and grime
there too that keeps it form being to clean. heh heh. I must say it
drives me crazy that there are so many bands out there less deserving attention
than Unpure that have bigger names than them. This band thrives in the
underground's obscurity yet they deserve to be so much more hailed because they
are truly one of the best Sweden's metal scene has to offer.
